The Nutcracker

We went to the Nutcracker ballet! My mom and I were going to take Noelle to the ballet but since Daddy was in New York, we took Ross along too! We got dressed up and headed out! The kids immediately saw the gift table and Ross wanted a small nutcracker ornament and Noelle wanted a ballet shoes ornament. Of course Grandma couldn't resist and bought them for them!

Noelle was entranced by the dancers and she kept saying, "Mommy! Can I dance on that stage someday?" and "Mommy! I love those dancers!" She was particularly interested in the men and women dancing together and asked if maybe Daddy could dance with her like that! Afterwards she said her favorite part was when the ballerinas came on stage! This evening she put on a short show for me in the living room complete with "Attention Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls...the curtain will open in thirty seconds!" (Not sure where she got that part!)

Ross enjoyed the show okay, but mainly he liked seeing the Nutcrakcer. Not the dancer portraying the Nutcracker. Just the small wooden doll-sized Nutcracker. Ha ha! He kept asking when it was going to "come back on the stage for the girl to carry it around again!" After intermission he asked a few times when he might be able to go home and go to sleep in his bed since he was "very tired." Luckily a package of fifty dollar Skittles (okay, $2) perked him right up! He was able to hang on till the show was over.

It was a fun evening though and I think both kids felt special getting to go to the "fancy show" with Mommy and Grandma! I remember going to the Nutcracker as a family as a kid growing up and am glad I can do it with my kiddos, too!
